if you think of 1 plz persuade me why i should buy it
planing of buying a gtx 1080 asus strix a8g
should i wait for the 1180 founder edition
more leaning for the 1080 because better cooling and sooner
Playing on a 1080p monitor
Ik both cards are way overkill for 1080p but i cant be upgrading every year or so thats why i want futureproof

Solution
1080 = 1440p gaming, provided a decent CPU ram and overall rig build, you can run any title without any concern about FPS with max settings.

I would wait however;

1180 or 2080 or whatever they gonna call are around the corner, who knows how much the price on 1080 will go down and what will be the performance of these cards. while there's never such thing as future proof, perhaps if its possible to go for a 1180/1080ti who knows for an extra buck that would certainly guarantee you an extra lifespan of max settings for 1080 or 1440p.

though if you cant wait and need a rig no matter what, up to 1440p the 1080 non ti is your card. the TI is just overkill

What do you have? What monitor are you gaming on?

I was talking to a co worker about this very question. He has a new awesome special 4K TV that he wants to start gaming on. I told him not to wait, buy the 1080 now and start gaming on 4K. He currently has a 970 which can't handle the 4K res. By buying the card now he can start using the TV and enjoy his games there. Now. What you have, what you want to do matters greatly.
