Question Should I buy a new GPU or is my current PC specs good enough for VR?

I was thinking about upgrading from a 2060 6gb non super to a 4060ti 8gb or I could buy an oculus quest 3 which I'll mainly use for PCVR, because I already have a couple VR games that I had when the oculus rift first came out and died on me after 6 months. I've had this GPU since it came out though and I'm could probably upgrade my cpu at the same time because mentioned a bottleneck to me. Which I don't think would happen.

I got a perfect, but the steamVR test came out in 2016 and I believe vr has change significantly since then. At least there are a bunch of new games that look amazing.
oh yeah true. well atleast you know you can run games. I have 3070 and I can run some games on high settings

You would probably need a much more powerful GPU, However, your CPU will be a limitation for an upgraded GPU. It depends on your budget, but I would go with this. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yDJjn6

I don't think upgrading the mobo is in the budget. If I was going to upgrade my cpu isn't there a cpu that wouldn't bottleneck that doesn't cost alot and is still a LGA1151?

oculus quest 3

PC Hardware Requirements for smooth performance, you'll want at least: Recent 6-core Intel Core i5 processor or equivalent AMD Ryzen 5 chip to handle intensive VR processing. NVIDIA GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 480 graphics card with 6GB of dedicated memory or better, so you can enable complex rendering and effects.

Just looking where you are before you upgrade.

The 4060 ti is one of the worst-value GPUs of this generation. Its measly 8GB of VRAM is not going to be enough for the higher resolutions that VR usually has, not to mention a stable frame rate is a requirement for VR in order to reduce the risk of motion sickness.

Well, getting an i7-8700k shouldn't be too bad, $100-150 or so.

6750XT for $340

You will probably want a CPU cooler too:

Couldn't OP also upgrade to a 9900k somewhere down the line if they wanted to? I seem to remember that Z390 boards could support 9th gen CPUs.

Yes, but they are still asking about $250-300.

Not worth it over just replacing the motherboard and CPU.

At $105 for gaining hyperthreading and adding 700Mhz to the boost clock, hard to argue with.

Not to mention he does have a Z390 board, which means he can overclock.
