The 1 main reason people say the 2600x isn't worth it is the price per performance of the 2600 that can be oc'd to near 2600x performance. cheaper.
The 2600x you already have is fine, till you decide when to upgrade it.
The recent bios updates and Agesa 1004 may have helped the 2000 series cpu's as the first few bios updates for the 3000's really didn't help the 2000's.
I lost performance going from a 2000 series bios to a bios that was more for a 3000 series and that was when I decided to Oc and have not updated since until i hear in fact it has helped or I get my 3600x or 3700x first
and at this time the price for a 3700x here at Micro Center is 249.99 us that is down $70.00 in the last week and 1/2.
As Drea.drechsler stated Don't let your expectations disappoint you as you Will Not Get the old Fx ghz oc's
out of Any of the AM4's unless you plan on some extreme LN2 cooling and at that time should be looking at a x470.
Keep in mind the am4's are doing more on less ghz (compaied to the FX) paired with some 3200mhz cl14 / cl16 ram in a 2x4, 2x8, or 2x16 config
So don't expect 4.2ghz or higher.
