Hello, should i buy a new wireless router? i am currently using the isp provided zyxel amg1302-t10b modem router. my question is should i put the zyxel amg1302-t10b in to bridge mode and buy the TP-LINK TL-WR841N 300mbps router? so i can use the wifi outside my house and get a better signal around the house, i have been using a wireless range extender but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't!
my download speed is 7mbps and 1mbps upload on a good day!

Does the following link show your router?

As for your house connection: The ISP wire comes in and then goes through a splitter (filter) dividing the connection between a telephone and the router - is that correct?

First inspect the wall outlet to make sure that all internal connections are snug and tight. Try replacing the existing telephone cables with known working cables.

Likewise the splitter/filter could be the problem as well. See if you can get a replacement.

Google "ADSL2 wiring" - lots of useful links available.

Here is one very current example:

Performance will only be as fast as the slowest link in your network.

Very possible that buying a new router will not be at all beneficial.

Did you ever have good speeds?

You need to troubleshoot your existing network and network devices. Could be just a bad cable or connection somewhere....

Or the need for an updated driver for a wireless adapter. Or updated firmware for the wireless range extender.

How is your wired connectivity?

Call your ISP - report the slow connection(s). See what they see from their end.

Again, a new router may not help at all.

Hello , I've always had the same broadband speed ever since 2009. I've moved the modem router right next to the connection to my house (using the master telephone socket). This did make the connection a little better, the internet never drops out now.
Only problem is the master socket is by the front door and I need to connect to every thing using WiFi. I've called my ISP before they said they can't do anything but check for any errors on there end.
Wired speeds has always been the exact same as wireless.

The objective is to get the performance to where it should be. Once that is done then wireless range extension can be addressed.
