I am building a new PC and would like to know if I should spend Rs. 3000 ($45) on a 64 gb SSD.Is it really worth it?(P.S.-I am on a tight budget)

Solution

Yes, that is the recommended way to do it. But 64GB is right on the edge of 'too small'. It will work, but you'll be spending a lot of time managing free space on that drive.

In reality, you'll only have about 50-55GB to actually use. A Windows 7 install, after all the updates, etc, can easily take up 40+GB.

I was thinking may be I could Install the OS on SSD bcoz I have heard that it reduces boot times

SSDs reduce boot times, loading times, downloading times, program opening times and increase the speed of your internet browser. If you can afford an SSD then they are most definitely worth getting. Samsung probably make the best these days and their included software for optimization is fantastic.

One bit of advise is that the bigger the SSD the longer they tend to last, (i don't know why exactly as i'm not a specialist in storage) but a 120GB drive will tend to last longer than a 64GB one.

Hope this helps and best of luck!
