Should I buy a used SSD?

So i have a friend that is selling a his Samsung 850 Evo 250gb ssd for £40. I am still yet to upgrade to an ssd and this would be a great addition to my system but i am just cautious over buying used Storage as i know a lot of people don't recommend it.

He has had the ssd for around 6 months and his computer has been on almost 24/7, and he has written 37tb to it. He has also shown that in Samsung magician it has been given a 'good' rating under condition.

Would you recommend buying it?

I suppose it all depends on how heavily used it is. I would never recommend buying used SSDs on ebay as they may have been severely abused and then tweaked to reset S.M.A.R.T. and hide the true level of its usage.

However, if it's from a friend and you know he didn't use it for any really extreme usage like constant video editing or 3D animation, then you're probably good to go. 850 EVOs are great SSDs.

Okay thanks, would you say that 37tb in 6 months is a reasonable amount of use?

for £40, yes and use your current disk to hold the daily backup.
