Should I get a z170 motherboard just for future proof sake?
For now Im buying an i5-6600 but will upgrade to K in the future

Solution
I wouldn't with a 6600 (non-K).

Z170
*Faster RAM
*SLI (generally)
*Overclocking

If you're not planning on any of those, then the Z170 isn't necessarily, and would be a waste of money. The RAM argument is barely even valid either. It's nice as an option, but only if the goal is Overclocking or SLI - the faster RAM compatibility certainly isn't worth the $$.

I also wouldn't buy a 6600 with the plan to upgrade to 6600K in future.
Either buy the 6600K initially (with a Z170 board), or don't plan to upgrade on the same LGA1155 socket and go with an H110 or H170 board.

It's rarely worthwhile upgrading your CPU within the same socket, unless going from i5 to i7 (but unless your objective is more than gaming, the i5 will suffice for a good length of time).

I wasnt planning to upgrade to 6600K but to an i7 and I was just wandering if its worth to buy the z170 mobo now rather then lets say in 3 years
