should i buy an gtx780ti or wait for the 800 series?

I curently have an very oudated pc(hd radeon3850).
i will have the money in about 3 months,and i am wandering if i shold go for the 780ti or wait for the 800 series?

well i already looked into it and i am more interested in the performance boost because i want to keep the new pc for about 5 years and still be able to play on medium @1080p whit an decent framerate

If you're getting the money in 3 months i'll say wait for another 3 months after that for maxwell. Gtx 780ti is really not worth it, especially with only 3gb of vram for 700 bucks. Maxwell should have at least 4gb of vram so better to wait for that. I have a really old ass graphic card too that im still using for almost 5 years, the gtx 260. I'll also be waiting for maxwell unless the non ref r9 290x is really good.

The R9 290x, GTX 780, GTX titan will run any game maxed as it is with excessive frames(Unless we are talking about 120hz monitors) Any of these cards will be fine and you can always crossfire/SLI in future. However I HIGHLY doubt it will require it at on a mere 1080p monitor. Even with Future titles.

780ti is overpriced for 700. Think about it, you can get the 780ti in 3 months by then you'll be at the 2 month of 2014 and if you wait for 2 or 3 more months you could get the new maxwell(gtx 880) that is much better than the gtx 780ti for 700 or even less.

The thing is, nvidia has a smaller memory bus e.g. Future titles might take advantage of faster memory. Maxwell might be worth waiting for, otherwise wait for the 780ti and we shall see.
