Should I buy another gtx 950 or buy a gtx 1070?

I currently have a gtx 950 with a i5 6600K and a msi z170 sli plus motherboard.
I am looking to upgrade my gpu and know that 2 gtx 950s are enough but should I buy a gtx 1070?

2 950s are nowhere near enough. Way too weak. A single 970 is way more powerful than 2x 950, and a 1070 will be roughly twice more powerful than a 970 so there is no doubt that the 1070 is better, way better.

GTX 1070 is way faster than 2x GTX 950.
GTX 1070 has more unified shaders and it is built on 16nm process vs 28nm process on GTX 950.
No point getting another GTX 950 since SLI peformance is never doubled the performance as we expected.

What resolution, level of detail and framerate do you hope to achieve? I would personally go for a single card solution (if possible) in any event.

As the others have said, the GTX 1070 will avoid scaling issues and have much better performance. Playing at higher resolutions (1440p - 4k) will be much better as well due to the added VRAM. Either choice will also need a good 500+ watt PSU.

Edit - Just did some quick math. Sell your existing GPU for a hundred bucks, and add the 140 or so you would have paid for the other 950. This puts the the GTX 1070 at only $140.00 more dollars. Not bad for over 4x the performance.

A quick update guys i have finally got the Gigabyte G1 Gaming gtx 1070 and wow the performance gain!

Can I know what games you play? And when you say "wow the performance gain"; can you give me some stats? Currently im running on i7 2600 and 950. My motherboard can support 1070 and I'm considering.
