I am aware of the price increase of DDR4. So, is Corsair 8GB 2666Mhz for $70 a good deal? I want a build I'm planning by August, so is it best to buy now before prices rise?
RAM prices won't drop until DRAM manufacturers complete their migration to 17-20nm, get their yields back in order and catch up with demand backlog. That might not happen until some time in 2018.
$70 if talking USD is not a good deal.
Also what is this going in, if this is an intel build then paying more for high speed ram is not really worth it over just getting native speed 2400mhz RAM.
RAM prices have already risen quite a bit due to DRAM manufacturers running into issues converting some of their production lines to 17-20nm, the mobile market consuming a growing chunk of the DRAM supply, DRAM manufacturers converting production lines to other more profitable products, many people deciding to upgrade their 5+ years old PCs and a few other random things sprinkled on top such as an explosion near a Samsung fab disrupting production for a while.
