Question is above :)

My specs:
i3-2100 2 x 3.1
500W PSU from pre-bult PC(not an evga, seasonic, cooler master or corsair)
PSU only has 1 6-pin connector

The quickest root to your answer is no. No because GTX 970 needs one 6 pin and one 8 or 6+2 pin. Your power supply would be able to handle the GPU, but it lacks the connectors.

HIGHLY not recommended with a high end GPU and a no name PSU combo. You're asking for a bad day with bad power over the wire. You really need a new PSU to sustain a 970. You could make do with a 960 depending on your needs they only use a 6 pin connector.

Depends on the game is the important part of that answer. It's hard to say that the 960 will play 1080p with ultra settings for 2 years when it can't even do that for some games right now, at least not at 60FPS. It you are ok with 30 FPS in some games or occasionally turning some settings down a 960 will last at least 2 years.

It won't play at ultra with 60 FPS in games like Witcher 3 right now though. To be fair, neither will a single 970.

Thank you,sir.

Will 970 last longer? Should I tighten my belt and buy it n months later? The deal for me was 970 or Xbox (I know PC is better, dont start on that.) I am really thinking about this 960 budget option, because I want to game so BAD but I am afraid it is not very smart decision due to its future proofness.

On ultra at 1080p with a 960 you're looking at 40-55 frames roughly on the newest titles with Ultra and no AA. If you can tinker with settings to get the framerate stable or just use nvidia geforce experience you should be golden. As for the future proof... it's a 960 they're meant to last 2 years. 970-980/980TI's will last 3-5 years. Just personal preference. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C70BubcRcTQ

Well, 960 isnt bad low tdp only + thing realy.. u can go with 380x.. Mine personal thinking that nvidia faild big time with 900 series and u will see in DX12.. i mean 970 gtx dosent have 4gb of Vram then Gpus like 950-960 have 128 memory bandwidth on 2gb or 4gb of Vram haha.. Only + side is Lower power consuption, I suggest you Buy some used GPU ( NVIDIA, AMD ) and save your money.. Next Gen is coming next year so....

960 it's a 128bit card so 4gb on it it's worthless
380 from amd 4 gb version is a 256 bit card so it does use those 4 gb better.

What about Gigabyte 970 Mini OC? I don't expect for it to fit me, but what are the differences between normal size. I guess htey are more loud and hotter? what about the performance and requirements?
