Hello! My build is this:
RAM: 4 GB Ram DDR2 800Mhz
Placa de baza: Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3
Placa video: Leadtek GTS450 1GB GDDR3
Procesor: AMD Phenom II x4 980 Black Edition

I recently got some money to upgrade my PC. I'm looking to play games, not really the newest ones at max settings, but to have them playable. I already have chosen a AM3 mb and 8GB (2x4 kit) DDR3 1866Mhz CL9, but I was wondering if it would be better to get a new GPU. What do you think?

Solution
For games would that be the best upgrade you could do,but the psu seems to be a bit shady though. From what i can find out would you need a molex->pcie adapter to make it work and i don't consider that a good thing.

Thought of the gtx 750 ti? It needs less power.
Your CPU is still a decent budget gaming CPU and it will still work in an AM3+ motherboard like the Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P. It is on the supported CPU list.

The GPU, motherboard and RAM are all old/slow though.

What's your upgrade budget? What games do you play?

As I told you I can only buy RAM and motherboard or GPU. I won't go into details about my budget for various reason. Which of these would be better now (don't think I won't upgrade the other thing after I get more money)? Also I've read somewhere that AM3 CPU's don't support more then 1333Mhz memory. Is it true?

My PSU is Booster SPS-520W. With what I have now the best GPU I can afford is an EVGA GTX660 2GB GDDR5, and that;s because it's on a good sale. What do you think?

Hello! And thanks that you told me about the gtx 750 ti. I found a pretty good deal and that is the thing that i'm gonna buy. Also I found out that a friend will buy a new pc and will give me his 4gb of ram so there is no problem anymore.

Hello :),

Glad that works out for you.For the older games at decent settings a good card, even newer ones can be played at still decent settings, even at 1080p.Try to get one with 2gb of vram.
For that matter would the 4gb of ram probably be good enough too, older games don't use as much ram as newer ones, but the extra ram can't hurt.
