Should I buy on Black Friday or Cyber Monday?

Hello I'm purchasing parts for my first PC build. First here is the parts list

First if there are any tweaks or suggestions for the build let me know. Quick thing on my build, yes I know the cpu is more than I need for gaming, I wanted it to be somewhat future proof, ditto for the memory. PSU is oversized so I can dual graphic cards later, and the processor cooler is only temporary, will throw on a liquid cooled one day when I actually need to overclock the processor.

On to my main question. I'm buying all of this through amazon (I'm using the store card so I can get it 12 mo interest free). I already have the graphics card (the Nvidia holiday bundle promotion conveniently ends next Tuesday I believe, and I really wanted those games) and I wanted to know when will the sales be better, on Black Friday or Cyber Monday? I've never even bought individual components before and don't know what to expect. I will probably ask again on Black Friday when the sales are actually ongoing whether I should "lock-in" the price available then or gamble on better deals come cyber monday. However I wanted to know going in what I should expect as far as potential discounts and savings are concerned.

Just keep watching all your part's prices. If one dips, order it. Also come up with a few alternates for Mobo, PSU, and Ram kits. You might not see a drop on the exact one you want, but you'll likely see a drop on a comparable model. The best deal I ever got was about a week before black Friday.

But that's my biggest problem though. I can't really afford to pick and choose and try to grab individual parts when the price drops. If I don't buy it all in one big lump from amazon, I can't get the 12 mo interest free (which makes the whole project a no-go). That's definitely a good point though, I'll keep an eye on some similar alternate parts.

Your build needs work. Get 8gb RAm for gaming. anything more is pointless and won't do anything at all. Even in the far future games will not need anything close to 16gb. As it stands now no games can even use more than 4gba and most use 2gb.

Change the PSU to antec, XFX, Corsair, Seasonic. That EVGA is known to have a weak protection circuit.

The i7 will be out of date before games even use hyper threading, let alone benefit from it. Change it to an i5.

ALso get the 212 EVO not 212 plus. BIG difference in performance.

Is this a better memory option? I figure you're probably right about the memory, and if I need more, I can always buy a matching kit and bring it up to 16gb

I'll probably hold onto the i7, you're probably right but I'd hate to have to buy a new cpu in a couple of years if I can avoid it, rather pay a bit of premium now and not have to worry.

As for the cpu cooler, it doesn't seem like too crazy a difference in temps:

Just a few degrees celsius. And I like I said, I probably won't need to seriously overclock it for awhile, and when I do I'll probably swap it out for a liquid cooler anyway

That RAM is great.

I am right about the i7. Honestly it will not shine over an i5 anytime soon. It truly is a waste for gaming. Anyone who games can tell you this. ALOT of people even disable hyperthreading an their i7s because it HELPS game performance.

I would get the EVO over the plus simple because it is constructed a bit better and comes with a better fan.

Liquid coolers are pointless. they are a fad and are LOUD and don't cool much if at all better than air coolers. It would be a better idea to just buy a higher and air cooler now and not mess with it later.


Also, I see you noted needing the no interest for a year incentive. I do not like to give out financial advice because I don't feel it is my place to do so, but if it is going to take a year or more to pay this off, do not buy it. You will be changing parts and messing with it by then, as is the way with computers, and you will be paying off stuff you either changed and will be changing soon. I made this mistake once with financing a guitar purchase.

Are you talking about an electric changing strings, amps etc? Cuz even still it's a odd comparison lol.
What are you thoughts on this years stampede sales period? I read that retailers can't afford to wait for December and so they start a week early, I remember an extended sale last year on several sites? When will dya think is the best time to buy, right away, mid-week, or friday/monday themselves. I can always order paypal and not take delivery something takes a plunge, but that's a bit extreme.

So far this year prices are ridiculously high, and friday is gone. I paid $300 (CDN) for an i7 4790k last year's sale, this year it's still over $400 everywhere. I don't see good deals anywhere, except maybe Samsung 850 Evo 250, and after horrible experiences with samsung I'm not buying anything from them again. The Sandisk Extreme Pro's are cheap also (and awesome) but that's just because their clearing them out for their next/new generation flagship.
I guess Monday will tell.
