so my 1 tb WD passport is full and i need more space.
i was planning to buy a new 2 tb and just selling my old 1tb , but some people have said the failure rate of the drives increase on 2 tb and above

or should i just buy another 1 tb hdd but it would seperate the contents of my hdd
or ffs maybe i should try one of those 1.5 tb hdd if thats really a thing.

what do you guys think?

HDDs have potential to fail, so you are always more secure with a second hdd, so in case of hardware failure you only lose the data on one of them.
BUT I would suggest to buy a 2 TB HDD and split them virtually into two partitions (so at least in case of data failure, you only lose one partition).
If you have enough money (+/-300$/TB) , get a SDD, cause they are MUCH less sensitive to shocks and much faster

2 HDD:
Pros:
- If one fails you still have the data on the other HDD
Cons:
- Energy consumption
- Price

+1 The SSD option (if funds allow) is a great option. You will certainly not be disappointed!
