Should I buy stock in AMD?

First of all, don't hate just because they're AMD. They make good budget CPUs and GPUs. Currently the price for each share is $2.40 USD. I've heard rumors that AMD might be acquired by Microsoft and AMD is also coming out with a new CPU soon. Would now be a good time to buy, say, 20 or 30 shares? Just to learn how stock works. And I personally can't see the share price going anywhere but up from here. Any input is appreciated.

Might be worth a small investment, rumor has it they may sell off the ATI or spin it off as a separate company also.

Seen rumors they may sell the ATI division, originally ATI was a different company, AMD bought them back around 2006, for the GPU business, now they are thinking of spinning it off or maybe outright selling it. Think it was Guru3D where I saw this latest
