i can buy a pc for £280 i wanna play mmorpgs at 720p or 1080p on a 42 inch tv
stats:
gpu sapphire hd radeon 6870

cpu phenom 2 x4 black edition

ram 4gb corsair ram

any advice would be much appreciated

If you do buy it, give it 8GB ram, and maybe a Radeon 7750

4 months old hes says it can play bf3 on max settings

Well, try it out before you buy it, but get 8GB of ram anyway afterwards

Sounds good to me, but a few points:
Used hardware is always a gamble-do you know/trust the seller?
For your needs and requirements it's just fine.
It's always best to play at the native resolution of the display.
What operating system is installed? Win 7/Vista is n't too bad but support for XP is going to stop fairly soon (and it's limited to DX9).
Unless you intend to use it for memory intensive tasks 4Gb of RAM will be enough.
