Hello everyone,

Please can you give your opinions on whether I should cable manage my setup? If so, how should I go about doing it? I've already bought this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00KBZM0L6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Here are some photos of my setup:

Looks very tidy to me mate! Are the cables getting in your way? When you move, are some getting caught anywhere? There are so many cable management items available, so it really depends how far you wanna go!

Clean looking little office setup there!

K.

Thanks very much! They aren't and don't move, I was just thinking of cleaning them up slightly. However, the room is going to be "renovated" within the next few months, so should I wait until then?

Personally, i would wait. The desk setup you have got looks nice and neat and tidy right now. Save some energy and wait till the refurb, then you can clean everything properly before it gets plugged back in. Then you can decide upon, and implement your cable management scheme!
I love refurbing a room, good excuse to swap everything round!

Good luck and enjoy mate!

That already looks pretty neat. The only suggestion I'd make is to buy some velcro cable ties to tidy up some of the extra cables around the power strip. So you're not untangling wires when you try to plug/unplug something.

You can use them on the other cables depending on how OCD you are. They're handy for holding things around the house too, so don't be afraid to buy the 100 pack.

Yeah, the product I've bought has some of those and that'd be the first thing I'd do. But, I don't want to get too OCD about it, haha! What do you guys think about the tower being on the floor? It used to be when the Billion router is.

Personally, i would always have my tower on the floor as the air is cooler down there, better for components!

Didn't think of that! Some people have said that more dust can accumulate down there! Though, this shouldn't become a problem for me as I frequently use a huge fan to keep the room cool and clean.

"next time, just buy some case with dust filters - i'm down in basement with mine, and just do check every 6 months, + real cleaning once a year..."

I did try dust filters, but the ones i tried cut down the airflow from the fans quite substantially, so gave up on that idea. I just dust-out more often. Doesn't bother me though.
