Should i change my pc?

Hello,

I would like to know if i should upgrade my current pc wich has:

Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-Z270X-Ultra Gaming
Proc: i7 7700K 4.20GHz
Memory: Corsair Vengeance Red LED 16GB DDR4 3000MHz CL15
Cooler: Deepcool Maelstrom 240T blue
SSD1: SSD Samsung 960 EVO Series 250GB M.2
SSD2: SSD Samsung 850 EVO 250GB
HDD1: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 64 Mb Buffer 7200rpm
HDD2: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 64 Mb Buffer 7200rpm
GPU: GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1070 G1 GAMING 8GB DDR5 256-bit
Case: Thermaltake View 28 RGB
PSU: Sirtec - High Power Element Smart 750W

Please let me know if i should change anything on this build or if i should chage to a 8700k proc.

1. What are your concerns regarding your current system warrantying a upgrade ? personally you have a strong system, if I was you I would wait until the next generation cpus come out.

2. 77090K vs 8700K performance difference is 28.26% so in multi core performance that is a good upgrade if your looking to do it.

3. single core performance difference is more modest (many programs still only use single core) only 4.725% increase.

Thx for answering...i have some slow performance when copying large files (besides gaming also working with Adobe AfterEffects) but that is because my hdds are a bit old and i know i should change them soon. Would like to know if it would be a big boost with 8700k compared to my 7700k and also if i should get another 16 gb of ram

Changing CPU isn't going to do anything to affect your storage transfer speeds. Bigger SSDs will do that for you.

The core components of your system should reasonably last you 4-5 years. If you can justify spending hundred of dollars on a new cpu for marginal gains, that is your decision.

Keep in mind you will need a new motherboard as well for an 8th generation Coffee Lake. While Coffee Lake offers the biggest jump in performance of a new generation Intel CPU since the first generation i-Core CPUs going to second generation (Sandy Bridge), it's up to you to decide if it's worth spending money on a new CPU and motherboard. Of course that boost in performance also incudes moving up to six cores from four. In my mind, the 15-20% real world productivity performance improvement over your Kaby Lake would not be worth the money. Definitely not in gaming.

Does your copy process copy from a file to another file on the same HDD?
If it does, your performance will be severely impacted because of access arm stealing.
Arrange to have one file on one HDD and the other on a different drive.

Consider replacing such a HDD with a large ssd that has minimal latency issues.

Do you have a budget?
Do you have the itch to upgrade?

If you are not budget constrained, go ahead with a 8700K upgrade, a 2 x 16gb ram upgrade and a big ssd.
