I clean installed Windows 11 very recently through the Windows Media Creation Tool, as upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11 caused a number of minor issues that have now been fully solved. At the moment, the system works perfectly.

However, it has come to my attention that a major Windows 11 update called 22H2 will release in September.

Does it include such major overhauls that they warrant another clean installation, or can I trust Windows' automatic updates not to mess anything up this time?

Solution
I wouldn't bother clean installing again.

Version updates replace the current install of windows so clean installing is just more work adding all the other applications again. 22H2 will replace 21H2 and make a windows.old folder that will disappear 10 days later.

22H2 doesn't look overly exciting to me, I can't see any major changes apart from superficial...

Keep good backups, be prepared for a full install.
You probably won't need it.

But always be prepared.

WIn 10 and 11 have major updates every 6-12 months.
I have a Win 10 Pro VM installed in Dec 2016, to test this sort of thing. Still on the original install, just getting the regular updates.

And yes, an in place upgrade between versions sometimes does bring issues.

But an upgrade within the same version should not.

Key word - 'should'.
As above...always be prepared.
