Should I clean the pcie slot?

Hello there,
Exactly on year ago I built my first pc. However ,I couldn't buy a graphics card (due to various circumstances) and so I used Intel hd graphics. Now I am finally able to buy a new graphics card. The question is; should I clean the previously empty pcie slot ( and if so, what is the best way to do this?) or can I just plug it in and I'll be good to go?
Sorry if the question sounds stupid but since I'm a newbie I want to make sure everything will work properly.

Just use compressed air to blow any dust away from the slot, and that's all you need.

And don't ever try touching the gold contacts in your new GPU. Could mildy or seriously damage it.
