Question should i do a m.2

What's your current setup? If you have a HDD, then M.2 will definitely be better, but if you have ample SATA SSD storage right now, then M.2 might not make too much of a difference, depends on the type of productivity work you do - some see major improvements, others not so much, Games probably wouldn't see a noticeable difference between SATA SSD and M.2 SSD.

M.2 is a form factor, same way 2.5" drive is a form factor. An M.2 drive can be either SATA or NVMe, if you want the fastest speeds, NVMe is what you want. You can also get PCIe add in card NVMe drives.

my current was ssd 860 evo 500gb but it died so i am using my laptop hard drive for pretty much everything . thank you for you guys responses

Yeah then, M.2 NVMe is what you should get assuming your productivity tasks require fast drive access.

Warranty the 860. It has a 5yr warranty on it in most countries.
