Should I Fully Upgrade my PC or do it Bit by Bit?

Current Specs:
i3-3220 3.3GHz
ASUS Radeon HD 6670 1GB GDDR5
8GB (2*4GB) Patriot Viper DDR3 RAM at 1600MHz
ASUS P8B75m LX PLUS mobo
(Assortment of SSD's and HDD's)
Zalman Z3 Plus Case
Windows 10 Home

I was planning on upgrading the processor to an i7-3770 and the GPU to an RX480 8GB variant. In addition to this, as my mobo has only 2 dimm slots, I am planning to get 2 8GB sticks instead to upgrade to 16GB total. Does anyone have any suggestions or improvements to my planned upgrades and additionally, should i save up some more and just do a completely new build with Kabylake processor, DDR4 RAM etc.

Depends you can still get alot of life out of your old pc depends on what your doing with it

I'd like to be able to run games a lot better, my current GPU can't really play the newer stuff all that well, if not at all. I also study Engineering and Comp Sci at Uni and run a lot of simulations etc, the processor i have currently can struggle at times.

Your upgrade plan sounds fine and certainly cheaper than a new mobo/cpu/ram combo
