Should I get a 120 hz monitor for my laptop?

I have been gaming on my 60 hz laptop for 2 years now and I want to improve it's performance by buying a 120 hz or 144 hz Monitor will it increase my fps in games or would it just be the same?

FPS in games depends on your system not the monitor. Also many laptops can't run high refresh rates off their external monitor connection so you should check on that with the laptop vendor support. A high refresh monitor will make things smoother, but may not in your case.
