I've been using 1080p displays for forever now, and in fact, I've never actually seen what 1440p or 4k even look like.
I have a good GPU (Evga GTX 980 Ti), a decent CPU (i7 6700). I can play TW3 at max settings at a very stable 60 FPS (and it's locked there by v-sync). So I was wondering maybe I'm wasting the potential of the rig as the game may still be at a playable FPS (for me, stability is most important. A stable 40 FPS is more than good enough) even if I upgrade the resolutions.
People told me that 4k, or even 1440p, looks infinitely better than 1080p. Is it true?
I would also prioritize in-game video & graphics settings over resolution. For example, I play GTA5 on ultra and max settings, but the average FPS is 50ish. So I fear that maybe going to 1440p will dramatically reduce the FPS if I keep the same settings.
So do you guys think it is worth it for me to upgrade the monitor? I don't really care about refresh rate too much since I don't play FPS games online and I don't really want the FPS to go beyond 60FPS since it can actually hurt my eyes after awhile.
Thanks!
