Question Should I get a 3600x or a 3700x for gaming?

I am looking to buy a Ryzen 3000 series CPU, and am torn between the 3700x and the 3600x. I want to overclock them as well, would the 3700x be a big enough difference to buy it over the 3600x for gaming?

My current specs are:
MSI Gaming X GTX 1080 Ti
B450 Tomahawk
Corsair Vengeance 16Gb (2x8gb) 3200MHz
Ryzen 5 2600 (OC'd to 4.1GHz)
Cryorig H5

I dont know about the 3700x but as far as i know, OC'ing or not hasn't got any impact on my gaming performance (as far as i know, i repeat). But i would say the difference would be something (in comparison) like getting a 3200mhz RAM (the R5 3700x) over getting a 3000 MHz RAM (the R5 3600x).

I would go for the R5 3600 since the overclock (for me) doesn't matter that much while gaming, and save some extra bucks for something else.

What did you end up getting ?
I ended up going with the 3700x because I wanted something powerful to pair with my 1080 ti, but honestly if you aren't interested in overclocking or want to save a bit more money for games or something, i'd go with the 3600x or 3600, although it is worth noting that the X series is extremely easy and safe to overclock, as all you need to do is turn on Precision Boost Overdrive in your BIOS.

Ah nice one. I think I will get a 3700x as I do want something that will do me another 4/5 years. Did you keep your B450 Tomahawk or upgrade to a x570 ?

I kept it, but I probably will upgrade sometime in the future since x570's have better VRMs than the B450's. But if you're looking for an option that wont cripple your wallet, the B450 is an excellent choice.

I’ve been hesitating for a good month between 3600 and 3700x. I’d rather keep a new cpu as long as possible so I think I’ll buy the latter. Feels like whatever I pick will give me buyer’s remorse anyhow lol
