I am considering getting a 980 or 980 ti at the end of the school year (june) Should I grab a 980 ti then, or wait for Pascal cards to come out and get a 1080? my specs are:
Cpu: i5-4670k
GPU: GTX 760 SC
RAM: 8GB
I assume the others are unimportant, as they dont affect GPU performance.

I haven't liked the 980, since the introduction of the 980 Ti. I just don't think the 980 offers good value for the money. In my mind, I would only consider upgrading to a 970/R9 390 or 980 Ti. By June, Pascal should be out or releasing soon. By that point, definitely wait for the Pascal replacement of the 970 or 980 Ti. No brainer.

Your psu is also important.

If you're going to Wai until June you should ask this question then...

Pascal and Arctic Islands will have just been released around that point and an accurate answer at a relevant time can be given.

Wait until June, then repost.
One thing that does matter is the display; A GTX980/980Ti class of card needs either a fast (120 or 144Hz or Gsync) 1080 monitor or at least a 60Hz 1440 res one to make any sense, if you have, and will not upgrade, a 60Hz 1080 display, aim for a GX970 or R9 390 class of card, they're more than fast enough at that resolution, and, outside of current AAA titles are actually fast enough to warrant a 144Hz 1080 display.

I dont have issues with my 760, I just prefer higher settings in games, what is the point of buying a game that has amazing graphics and only being able to run it so it looks like minecraft?

Mostly story and gameplay, not to mention that even at everything on minimum games like Fallout 4 still look pretty good, at least in my eyes, but depends on what you enjoy. If you want it to look good, get a 980ti and SLI it in the future, if you can deal with slightly worse, wait for pascal.
