Hi.

Recently, i bought an XFX RX 480 4GB RS GPU, which simply runs hot. It reaches easily 79 degrees, while i m playing games like Witcher 3, Doom ect.. The problem is, when it goes beyond 75 degrees, it starts to throttle. I don t want to return to card, cause i ve got it in a very good price. So, i ve decided, to buy a new case, and a 120mm case fan. I m thinking about getting a Deepcool Tessaract Black case, for 27$, and a Noctua fan to install it in the side panel to cool the gpu. Right now, i don t have any case fans, cause i have a noname case, which support only 2 90mm fans, but none of them is near my gpu.

My question is, what are you guys suggesting? Should i return the card? Should i buy the case and the fan? Or is there another trick, to cool my gpu? What do you suggest to resolve the throttling and the heat problem?

Also, when the gpu starts to throttle, the fans are running at 76% and its LOUD. Don t know what should i do... I expected an AIB card to perform much better in cooling than a refference, but it seems that it does not.

Oldest trick is to remove the case side panel and run the system with it off, in cases (sic) like this it can help a lot.
Good idea to swap cases but I'd suggest you spend a little more and look for something more like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811353106&ignorebbr=1

Why that one? It does not have HDD bays located directly behind the front fan/s which greatly restrict how effective those fan/s can be. The bottom mounted PSU means this heavy part is low down, making the system less prone to falling or being knocked over and it draws its own cooling air from the underside, top mounted PSUs draw warm air from inside the case, making them run a good deal hotter. It comes with two fans already installed and...
