I am looking at building a computer by the end of April and I do not know which motherboard to buy. I am choosing between the ASUS 97-a and the Gigabyte GA-Z97X.

Asus board: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-z97a

Gigabyte board: https://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gaz97xgaming5

If anyone has had experience with these boards please let me know your favorite. I am planning on overclocking an i5 4690k 10% (Not much). My build is listed below.

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 5 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Memory: Kingston Fury Black Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage:
Crucial M550 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB Superclocked ACX 2.0 Video Card
Case: Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case
Power Supply: EVGA 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224DB/RSBS DVD/CD Writer

I do want a SSD, HDD, and a Disk drive, that will take up 3 of the 4 sata ports. So I am debating if I should go that route. Do you think 4 sata ports is good enough?

The Z97-A has 4 SATA 6Gb/s ports and a SATA Express port which can be split into another two SATA 6Gb/s ports if needed. Not many users will need more than 6 SATA ports, and those who do are often running servers with specialist motherboards.

Whats the difference between the AR and A?

I found a deal at MicroCenter where I can get the Gigabyte GA-Z97X Gaming 7 and an Intel i5 4690k processor for $300! NEW!
