Im upgrading from a 560ti, How will the card run will my specs?

CPU- AMD Phenom II X4 3.4ghz Black edition

Mobo-Biostar A770e3

8 Gig Ram

I heard about bottlenecking cpu will that happen?
How will it last in terms of playing games on high settings?
Thank you for any advice you can give!

560ti is still a great card and with the cpu you are suing, you will hardly notice anything

imo its not worth the upgrade much. If you are upgrading from the same range of family/numbering

e.g 68xx>78xx, 560>660
the gains are slightly minimal and not extremely cost effective. Situations like this, I'd recommend the 2 generation switch, where you would consider the same family after the 2 generations have been released.

the comparison is price to performance though. For example, a Gtx 480 is still a capable card. the 580 was a capable card if you ignored the vram issues 580's had. Though the debate on whether or not to upgrade cost effecientcy wise is only moderate. then something like a 680 comes along, and it has a significant performance boost compared to the 480(partially due to it being on a smaller process being the major contributor(example of architecture drop performance is the 4770 compared to the other HD 4k series), besides being sort of a modified fermi-esqe) the price to performance is generally large and more worth the price difference.

I know what you mean that is why I said just stick with the 560ti. I just disagree with the fact u mention that the gains are minimal. They would be noticeable. But like you said, not really cost effective.

Using this chart, and the fact that they recommend only going up at least 3 steps, that lands you into the Nvidia 670 and Radeon 7870 LE (XT) or 7950.

The 7870 LE is the best deal by far, $240 for a good 90% of the performance of the 7950 or 670. Of course, you can stay with Nvidia, but in this group, it's going to cost you a good $360.

660ti and 7870XT are roughly comparable with the 660ti roughly $260 and 7870Xt about $240

You may run into CPU issues then but likely not too bad

560ti is still a fine card, wouldn't upgrade unless you can sell if for a great price to fund an upgrade

It would be o.k. but i'm not sure the price vs performance is worth it plus your cpu would need to be overclocked so you need at least a decent aftermarket cpu cooler as well.

if your willing to try OC the CPU then it may be worth it and you should see a good performance increase if you OC the cpu to around 3.8-4ghz and get the gpu at the same time. will still be a bit of a cpu bottleneck though. Maybe just look at OC the CPU first, it may be all you need to get the extra performance you require. Is there any particular games your having trouble running smoothly you want to play? we could determine what is your best upgrae path from that information. Something like an i5 upgrade may be more beneficial in cpu limited games.

So a new cpu over a card? I was playing hawken on medium windowed mode settings and only getting 20-30 frames. I didn't enjoy that. Im really looking forward to arma 3 and i want something that will run it and future demanding games smoothly.
