I am thinking of getting either the 960 or 380.From what I have read they perform similar but 380 a bit faster in some cases.

In my country gtx 960(evga) is about 10 euros more than the 380(msi), however I see Nvidia offering Metal gear solid Phantom pain game in a bundle with the 960.

Is 4GB necessary for latest AAA titles?
Can I overclock the gtx 960 to match the r9 380?
Should I pick gtx 960 or r9 380?

Thanks

What resolution are you playing at? And get the R9 280X. Cheaper and better.

At 1080p I'm looking into upgrade the gpu in 2 years for Virtual reality, however I'll probably stay at 1080p.
Unfortunately the 280x costs about 40-50 euros more so I cant afford that

Really? Wow.

The main advantage of 4gb R9 380 is that memory is almost manufactured by hynix
Much better to overclock
4gb R9 380 has a better minimum fps (less stuttering) than 2gb
nVidia cards are losing their position with more titles and more resolution because they are more powerful gpus but have narrower memory bandwidth
I prefer AMD

I understand that r9 380 4gb has larger memory bandwidth and it should perform well, however at 1080p it shouldn't make a difference right.?From the benchmarks I see r9 380 beats the 960 at higher resolutions mainly.
Besides the the MGSV bundle is really giving me hard time deciding.

I'm coming from low settings(to achieve 60fps) at 720p laptop so turning down settings is not new to me :). I just want a card for 1-2 years to play at 1080p 1-2 years at mid-high.

Well,

on the first place I wanted to buy 970 or 390, because of budget decided to go with 380 4gb and I didn't regret at all. It is more power hungry than 960 but slightly better as you can see from various benchmarks. All in all both cards are pretty similar and you will not make mistake with any of them.

Good luck!

What I mean, that all games become more hunger to memory bandwidth. This makes nVidia cards loosing with time. For example, read this carefully (about gtx 760)
