Hi Everyone !! :):)

Hope you all well.

I am little new to the current market. My last build was around 5 to 6 years ago.

Recently I purchased a Asus GTX 1080 A8G with promo.

Question: Should I get a new CPU or build a new system or new monitor ?

Long term goal: playing VR game with HTC VIVE pro and play game on 4k setting or maybe ultra 4k.

Short term goal: play current games on high setting such as rise of the tomb raider, PUBG , Skyrim, middle earth shadow of war, battlefield 1, grand theft auto V , fallout 4 , assassin creed origins, Far cry 5, state of decay 2, the forest , Fortnite (battle Royale), Kingdom come :Deliverance , Wolfenstein 2 the new colossus, Divinity: orginal sin 2, superhot ,outlast 2, dark souls 3 , mass effect andromeda and final fantasy XV.

Current specs. ( 4 to 5 years system)

- CPU intel i5-4570
- Asus Z87-C LGA 1150
- Corsair 8G Kit 1866 VEN PRO C9
- NZXT white Phantom 410
- FSP650W platinum PSU
- Toshiba 3TB 3.5'' 7200rpm
- Samsung 2.5' 120G 840 EVO
- Asus Gtx 670 2GB
- asus vg278q ( not sure if i need a new monitor to optimize the card like Acer predator x34 UWQHD or asus predator but it looks over kill)

I am so confuse at the moment there is so many option on the markets. It will be awesome if i can get some expert advice from everyone.

Many thanks,
Kool rabbit

Hi Vapour,

Sorry for my late response.
Budget :Around 1000 aus
CPU: Is 2nd Gen Ryzen 5 better than coffee lake just in term of price ? Also do I need to place cooler on the CPU ?
Graphic card: I think no matter what the Asus GTX 1080 strix will struggle with 4k unless i do SLI or get a gtx 1080ti
Monitor: what kind of brand or models do you recommend ?
Case: do you know any cases with good air flow?

Thank you

Many thanks

Might plan to stream in the future but not atm.

I heard cooler on Ryzen is really good and its good in price, but i heard its only good with heavy work load but not gaming.

Is there a good one around that support ultra setting ? ( just planning ahead) lol

CPU : i5 8500 or  i78086K ( not sure do you need a cooler . I am actually very new to this . I saw Corsair H100i V2 240mm , NH D15S and Cryorig 15 not sure which one is better)

MB : Asus TUF H370 Pro (wifi) or Asus Z370 F or any recommendation?

Ram : Gskill RJ F43000C15D or any recommendation?

Case: Corsair carbide 275R BLK Temp or Corsair Carbide 400 Win mid or any recommendation ?

Power supply : Coolmaster Masterwatt 650W Bronze or Corsair CX750 W Semi mod. or any recommendation?

SDD and hardrive: Samsung 970 EVO NVME 500G or 250G

Many thanks,

Hi Vapour,

Thank you for helping me out and also every one being very helpful. :) :) Thank you.

Sorry for my late reply. I actually gone with a new build but i think i am over budget trying to keep it under 2500 AUS . I still havn't get power supply , ram and sdd and m2 or hard drive. Also i want to try to do some overclocking as well ( I am very new to overclocking).

Is it better to overclock after the warranty ?

Below is my current build

CPU: i7 8700K $466.65 AUS (brought on 15%)
Cooler: Noctua NH-D15 $107.10 AUS (brought on 15%)
Case Fractal Design ATX Define R6 $177.65 AUS (brought on 15%)
Motherboard: Asus strix Z370-H $211.65 AUS (brought on 15%)
Asus strix GTX 1080 A8G $735.00 AUS (brought on 20%)

Memory: any recommend for the best ram and a budget one for this build considering overclocking as well?

Power supply: any recommend for the best PSU and a budget one for this build considering overclocking as well?

Storage: any recommend for the best M2, SDD , hard drive and a budget one for this build considering overclocking as well?

Montior: any recommend for the best monitor and a budget one for this build ?

Many thanks,
