Should i get a new cpu or gpu? what's more cost evocative ?

what's more cost evocative to get a new AMD cpu or a vid.card ?

I've read a lot of stuff on both but the only thing i got was u need a good cpu to get the full power out of your gpu right???

or did i get it wrong or back wards not to shore .

so I'm asking 4 some HELP PLEASE !!!



my specs are on my profile for all to see.

i got the pc back at the end of April 20th or so of 09 the hole things cost me less the $660 w/shipping.

it runs pretty good but the older duel core AMD Kuma7750 cpu get's bodged down some times even with it OCed to 3.2Ghz

my options are do nothing, or get a athlon II x4 and OC to 3.2Ghz or higher

or wheat till i can get a Phenom II X4 BL.Ed. and a new MoBo w/SLI or cross fire for less then $250 ???

any kind of help with the CPU/VID.card/MoBo problem would be nice thanks 😱 😱

then my mom gets the old CPU n MoBo to replace her old 478 celeron 2.93Ghz crappy HP/Compaq/wal-mart paces of Ppppooooohhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that she's used for like 4 Years.

but that what they buy n that's why they sale regular people crappy PC for way to high of prices.

i play games like : border lands , R.E.5 , ghost busters , E.S.IV , Fallout 3 G.Y.E. new game demos and i watch movies and run Bench Marks and some times burn cd's , DVD's and all kinds of other stuff .

but it's mostly that its not a great malty tasking cpu like the quad-cores are !!

That would give you a good base to build apon, your current graphics card is ok for another 6 months or so i should imagine.
That 965 has 125W instead of 140W TPD so its slightly better for overclocking and wil be much better than your current CPU at multitasking. Dnt forget a good aftermarket cooler.

i've got a XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler it cools my OC 3.2Ghz Athlon Kuma 7750 to
about room temps at idle w/fan on high and about +30F at full load thats good right???

my room temps are upper 50's to med 60's F in the winter and 80's n higher in the summer.

my MoBo only supports 95watt and lower cpus.

so may a mobo up grade first then the cpu ???

Im not sure if you can put your current CPU into a AM3 motherboard.

So, if you don't have all the money right now, then why not buy the motherboard first then save up for the CPU and then the RAM, That way you'd still be able to use your current computer while you save up for your new build.

Yea your temps are fine, what you need is a CPU.... The x4 620 will give you a boost in performance specially when overclocked past 3Ghz. Later on you can add more RAM.

my room temps in Celsius are like 13 to 17 or so in the winter and 24 n up in summer full load temps would be 45to54 at the hottest i think ???

so i just weight on getting a cpu till i have $200 .

so i can get Phenom IIx4 Bl.Ed. of some kind .

You need to balance your rig, if you buy a 200 dollar quad you are basically bottlenecking your system since you will need at least 4GB of Ram. Right now DDR2 is super expensive compared to what it was back in a april of this year, nearly doubled in price. The x4 620 is a budget quad that can hold it's own vs. the 955/965BE.

Those numbers are from a stock 620, once that CPU is overclocked to 3Ghz and beyond it can hang with the Phenoms =)

The 620 and 2 more gigs of RAM should balance out your rig quite nicely....
