Should I get a new laptop if I have S7-392?

This is not really a technical question, more like an open discussion.

I love getting a new laptop every 1-2 years and I have the money to spend on it.

However, this time the progress is so small that I am doubting if it's really worth it..

My current laptop is S7-392.
i7-4500U, 8GB, 256GB SSD, 13" 2560x1440, Wifi N, 15W TDP

Generally i love the laptop, especially how it looks.
I dislike: missing F keys on top, keyboard a bit too shallow, fan gets loud when CPU usage is above 20%.

I was checking the newest ultrabooks and there's is just the next generation CPU, AC Wifi, I could get a bigger SSD drive, resolution is already extremely high, maybe slightly longer battery.

The way I see it the update is really minor.. Do you think there's a point in upgrading?
Also, is there something new really worthy upcoming this year in the ultrabooks field?

And I was pretty clear about that being a pointless thing unless there's a specific killer feature you want. You might get a better integrated graphics solution with Skylake U chips like that in the SP4, but at that resolution it won't really make a difference because everything will have to be scaled anyway. If you really like drawing or writing you might have a reason to side grade, but nothing will be a real upgrade.
Why the hell would you upgrade a top of the line laptop? Anything you can do will at most be a "side-grade". If you want you can get a Surface Pro 4, but not much reason to do so unless you need/really want pen input

Put that money into your savings or invest it, either will be a much better idea.

Well, that's why I made this post :)
I like to get new things from time to time, I suppose.. Read about Surface Pro 4, looks cool, but I also think it's not worth it for now..

Your computer is already the newest you can get. If you want to buy something, get a good desktop. If you just want to spend money, donate (money) to your local food pantry or school.

Start collecting new phones, you will never have the fastest for long. S7, fastest phone ever (until next month).

I used to buy a new mouse every year, but I eventually found one I liked enough to stop. That was a Microsoft Gaming Mouse, they don't exist anymore and last time I just got a Steelseries Sensei but now its silver paint is starting to wear off and I might just buy another Sensei before it goes transparent. I prefer to retire things before they stop working. Always handy to have a spare (though having a spare laptop just in case isn't a good enough reason to buy one).

I have a good desktop and I know what to do with my money. Question was specifically about buying a new laptop or not :)

Phones are not that interesting for me. I am just asking if it's worth changing my laptop.
Collecting mouses and phones is not really related to my question :)

Yep, I kinda have the same opinion that the upgrade would be minor. I thought maybe someone would surprise me with something I didn't think of :)

The HD 540 seems much better GPU than my HD 4400 indeed. I do play games sometimes on the desktop and in some light graphic games on the laptop. But still not sure its worth the upgrade..

Anyway, any killer features expected this year? I couldn't Google anything up about that..

Not really, maybe in 2-3 years depending on how much lower power the i7 U and pascal/volta are by then. If they can get both in a ~20-30W envelope, you might have some interesting laptops.
