This is the monitor I am currently using, Acer V223W, I've been using it for more than 3 years. https://www.amazon.com/acer-v223wejbd-22-1680-x-1050-500001-5-ms-lcd-monitor-black/dp/B0054MJX3E/
Currently, I am using Evga GTX 750 1gb (no TI), PSU Corsair CX430m. I am thinking of upgrading only the GPU to GTX 1060 in a couple more days when it come out. But my question is that would my monitor be able to handle the FramePerSecond that the 1060 run with or will I be stuck with whatever the limit of the monitor can run ? (I don't really know the relationship between monitor-GPU).

Also, If i need to upgrade my monitor. Which would be a good option ? I'm thinking of BenQ XL2430 but wonder if that is a little too much.

Thoughts: Personally I'm planning on getting the PG248Q/PG258Q. They have high refresh and are g-sync. Considering that you're looking for a monitor to pair with a GTX 1060, you'd probably be well matched with the Asus VG248QE. My reasoning is that your future 1060 probably wouldn't exceed it's 144 FPS rating, and g-sync probably wouldn't be as beneficial. In many graphically demanding games on ultra settings, you'd need a GTX 980 Ti (or GTX 1070) to fully utilize the 1080p resolution at 144 Hz, and possibly a GTX 1080 to exceed that frame rate. Also, the Asus VG248QE is a relatively reasonably priced monitor for what it offers. It's one of the most popular models among Twitch streamers and CSGO players.

The only game I am playing is OverWatch. Casual player due to work. I am currently getting around 80FPS. The only concern I have with the asus is that I saw many review regard its bad color in comparison to other monitor.

Edit: what I am looking for is good FPS and color wise. Around 20-24inch. I'm pretty budget wise too because I dont really want to spend too much

Love the color on my monitor and i have a 4K dell to compare and macbook's and ipad's

and to your first question the PC will display at max monitor setting so if its 60fps that is all you will get but i think you know that

@Ka Tran It's interesting because I've had the same dilemma for the past year. I also want 1080p + IPS + 144 FPS. The IPS displays traditionally have great color reproduction, but unfortunately there are no 1080p 144 Hz IPS displays on the market. In order to get IPS and higher frame rates, you'll need to upgrade to 1440p. Perhaps someone else on this forum will know of a 1080p TN display with better color reproduction. The only ones that I know are limited to 60 Hz.

any monitor can "handle" the 1060 its just that you will waist the not used performance that the monitor cant display
