Right now i have an AMD FX-4100@3.6ghz on a GA-78LMT-S2. I was wondering if it would be worth it to buy a good LGA1150 motherboard and get an Intel Pentium G3258 and overclock it to around 4.0-4.2ghz. I use my pc almost solely for gaming and general web browsing.

Im running win7. My gpu is a Nvidia GTX 650 ti boost 2gb.

No no no... Don't switch from a quad core to a dual core. There are games coming out that no longer run on 2 cores. So even though the G3258 might be faster than the FX-4100, with the FX-4100 you'll be able to run all games, albeit some of them poorly, the G3258 won't run some at all.
