I'm upgrading my GPU to a gtx 980 and my PSU isn't very good At least that's what a lot of people have been saying on here and im wondering if i should upgrade my PSU also to something a little more reliable or just keep this one. It's worked so far for over a year.

Coolmax power supplies are Tier 5 power supplies, veyr low quality. Here is the description for a tier 5 power supply:

Avoid IMMEDIATELY. These units are highly unsafe to use. No such protections added, very thin gauge wiring used, false advertising and too much to list. Reference to a higher tiered unit for a better, money saving and a much safer unit. For your safety's sake, please don't order or pick one up for use in your system. These units are a potential fire hazard and could even kill you, let alone your system.

I would get a new power supply even if you were not getting a new graphics card. That power supply is a huge rip off. I would buy something like an EVGA 750W B2 power supply - plenty for your card and Tier 1. And usually on sale.

try and have look at corsair power supply there 600 watt psu semi modular is very good and very reasonable price also try and calculate how much wattage you actually need for your systems i got 600w and only use about 400w of it so could of saved some money and got 500w supply

Any of those lower watt ones are usually the Corsair CX ones, which are low quality units with bad capacitors. There are some higher quality units COrsair makes. The RM and HX are high quality, but are typically a lot more money when compared to the equally good and if not higher quality EVGA Supernovas.
