Should I get a used GTX 980 from ebay or a GTX 1060 for gaming

The miners in 2018 definitely took the 1060's prices to NASA, there are alot of used 980's on ebay for cheaper the price to a GTX 1060. Which one is better, I looked at some benchmarks and in the ones i noticed, they perform almost the same. So I just wanna know what would be better? Ebay GTX 980 or a 1060 new?

I would get the 1060 new if buying now, but a wiser decision would be to wait a bit. Volta release can affect current prices.
