Should I get an SSD only for a gaming pc?

Hi! I'm thinking of getting a high-end gaming pc and tought of this SSD as storage "256GB Samsung 840 Pro". On my current low-mid system I have a 148GB hard drive which never reaches 90% full (also I don't download movies/music/photos. I mostly stream stuff). Most downloads I did on this pc was from skyrim mods and a handful of games and ofcourse, lots of site browsing/Gaming.
So I was wondering if I should just stick this 256gig ssd which is known for longevity and ignore the HDD completely?

BDW these are the programs I'm planning to have installed:
Antivirus
antiMalware
Steam with 3+5 games*games around 5-12gig*
Coretemp
Mozilla/Chrome
java/adobe flash and usual stuff.

Oh, no, don't waste your time on the extra drive if you currently aren't even close to the 256gb mark. You won't wear the drive out, not even close no matter which drive you pick, can't go wrong with Samsung.
The Samsung 840 pro is a great drive for sure. I may be misunderstanding your question but are you thinking of putting the 840 pro into a spare computer or the new gaming computer?

I use the same 256gb 840 pro for my boot drive, games, autocad etc etc and have movies and music on a separate HDD and couldn't be happier. Everything loads incredibly quickly. The 840 pro isn't more reliable than the 840 or 840 EVO but it is designed to have more write endurance and higher random I/O. For regular gaming and normal computer usage, you wouldn't notice a bit of difference or lifespan between the 3.

If the SSD is for your main machine, I'd say you could get away with the 840 EVO and save ~$80 even.
If the SSD is for your spare machine, unless you need it to load very quickly, I'd save the money and stick with the conventional HDD.

Basically what I'm saying is if I should even bother with a spare hdd since I don't do any heavy loading. Also this SSD will be on my new gaming/main rig, not current. ( the price isn't much of a problem for the pro since it's more recomended)

To me it makes more sense to just get a 256GB SSD with great speed/longevity over a 2TB HDD which only has longevity/storage which I'm 90% sure il never get near the 1TB plateau ,LOL... 2TB is just way to much for me xD even 500GB seem too much.
