Should I get another 1080 or buy a 1080 Ti and TRY to sell my current 1080?

Im a graphics <ModEdit>. There I admit it. But at same time I do need smooth framerate. Im just transitioning from console to PC. I currently have a 1080 with an i7-8700 and a 650w PSU on a 2560×1440p 60hz monitor. So my two questions are as follows....should i go SLI 1080s or try to sell my 1080 and get Ti....THEN should i buy 1440p with higher max framerate or go to 4k at 60? Ive never played a game with above 60fps or at 4k so i truly dont know. Haha. Halp!!

I think you should get a 1080ti and then get a 144hz 1440p monitor. Personally, the difference between 4k and 1440p is nothing compared to the buttery smooth eye orgasm that 144hz brings.

Then how do you know anything is wrong?

A GTX 1080 should be fine for 1440p 60, so.... what's the problem?
Dual graphics introduces more problems, so single strongest is the best choice, but I'm not seeing any reason to upgrade.

It is all about personal feeling. For me, 2k is already too detailed to catch up. For 60 FPS, you will want G-sync for 1080ti to avoid stuttering, which is super expensive. SLI 1080 will depend on what games you play, google if the game supports SLI well, otherwise get a 1080ti instead.

My question is a two parter i guess. Whats a better experience, 4k at 60 or 1440 at 144? And whichever the anwer may be, which setup is best to achieve it, 1080 sli or 1080 Ti?

1440 at 144. The difference between 1440 and 4k is much smaller than the difference between 60 fps and 144fps.

SLI is a bad idea pretty much always though, so a 1080ti will have the best chance of running 1440p 144 fps, you'll have to play around with game settings though as quite a few graphics settings are punishingly prohibitive for zero visual improvement.
