should i get i7 3770 or i5 8400 (with new mobo non "Z")

as the title says ... i m getting i7 for 130$ (no mobo upgrade) but if i buy i5 8400 i need to upgrade mobo too (NON Z THOUGH AS ITS FKING COSTLY AF )

i5 8400 is a much better CPU and it doesn't require a Z motherboard since it's a locked SKU. Keep in mind that you still need DDR4 RAM to pair it with.

Cost-wise, if you already have the compatible mainboard+RAM for I7 3770, it is better simply to get I7 3770.

However, the jump to Coffee-Lake might be worth all the cost especially for gaming.

Gaming Single core speed is almost identical between the two while the 8400 has better (25% more) multi core performance, on the other hand the platform upgrade might be better choice as a first step before upgrading later on to a more powerful 8th generation CPU (to take advantage of latest USB 3.1 gen2, USB C, M.2 PCIe 3x4 SSD, DDR4 and higher memory clocks)

cant i like use ddr3 ram on a ddr4 mobo ?

some DDR4 mobos can accept low voltage DDR3, these mobo is however still very picky about those low voltage DDR3.
Vast majority DDR4 mobo is not compatible with DDR3, not even those low voltage DDR3.

^ no coffee lake boards take ddr3.
If you go that route you 100% need to buy new ram assell.
