Should I get liquid cooling or is it necessary for my build?

Hi, I decided to get a new PC with the following specs:

i7 - 7700 processor
16gb ram
h270 3 gaming motherboard
GTX 1060 - 6GB

Do i need liquid cooling for this? I do intend to purchase a GTX 1070 down the line.
I'll be running RPCS3 as well but I really don't want to spend more money than I already have.

It would be, but it's not a bad idea to get a Hyper 212 Evo. In the end it's all about how much noise is fine by you, and whether you want your PC to look pretty or not. Stock coolers are downright ugly. Some people find that to be a good enough reason to buy a cheap air cooler. There are other benefits as well, of course, but again, it'll still run fine on stock cooling.
If it's a non-K processor, you don't need any cooler, it will come with a sufficient stock cooler, use that. Plus you can't overclock with that motherboard anyway. No need for liquid cooling. No need for even an air cooler, just use the stock cooler.

All right, but 7700 is a good processor right? And is the motherboard good? In all honesty, I'm getting my build ready for metro exodus and I want it to be perfect.

What is the ideal temp for the i7 7700? Yes, it does come with a stock cooler which does look pretty good. Will update my GPU down the line require me to up my cooling?

If you haven't bought it yet, it might be a good idea to get the 8700 instead, or the i5 8400, the extra cores will certainly help in the future. 4 cores are on their way out now, so buying a 4 core chip now might not be the smartest choice when 6-core CPUs are available.

I have a 7700k with liquid cooling. My temps run in the low 70s during extreme gaming - 90 to 100% utilization - OC to 4.5ghz. I strongly recommend liquid cooling and a negative pressurized case (more fans blowing out than in). The 7700k is a powerhouse but you have to treat it right.

I won't be overclocking and this will probably be my last PC upgrade for gaming. Basically, I want it ready to handle Metro Exodus at a stable 60Fps 1440p.

I won't get the 7700k but the standard 7700

Get the 8700 then, and a B360 board. Who knows how many cores the game will need, plus the recommended requirements(predicted) state a Ryzen 5 1600 for AMD, so it might use more than 4 cores. I'd say go with the 8700, you won't regret the future-proofing.

Would the stock fan be enough for it?

What's your main use for the PC?

- browsing then non-k
- gaming the 'k'
- photos the non-k
- learning tech the 'k'
- documents then non-k
- god-rays in farcry then 'k'

But try not to get in the position that you are always regretting not getting the 'k' which stands for 'kicka$$'. Not really but it sounded good. Also the 1440p is a function of your GPU so keep that in mind.

Good luck...
