I'll just get to the point. I have had a gtx 660 and i3 for a long time and I want an upgrade. The gpu prices are through the roof rn. Is it worth getting a 5600g and use the igpu until I have money to buy a good gpu , or buy a 5600x and use my gtx 660 until I buy another GPU. What do you think will benefit me more ? Also the price range is pretty much the same in my country.

Edit : it will take me about a year or so to buy a gpu since a want a really good one like an rtx 3060 or something equivalent.

12th gen is coming out in ~1 month, and they seem to be priced rather competitively, so it might be worth waiting for that
as for your GPU, that's a bit harder
my GTX 1080 cost around $700 when my father bought it 5 or so years ago, it should probably be worth around 500 now, but its worth 1800 (on amazon)... more than twice as much as a 3080, and over 4x more than a 3070 (at MSRP)

tldr: waiting for 12th gen might be reasonable, especially bc ddr5 and pcie gen 5 come with it, also GPUs cost thousands

Really? I thought that I would run games better with 5400g than my gtx 660. Guess if I'm wrong then there would be no point in getting the 5400g. Thanks a lot .

Yea the graphics on a 5600g, are slightly better than a GT 1030. A GTX 660 is a good 3 tiers higher than a 1030.

If you want to upgrade now, go with the 5600x, and keep your GTX 660, until you can snag a card without paying an arm and a leg, with a kidney.

DDR5 is going to be a good 50% higher than ddr4.

And early DDR5 is not going to be better than decent DDR4 sticks, that we have now, due to latency.

it's just an extra bonus, you can buy ddr4 with 12600k or whatever, but you can't buy ddr5 with 5600x (in other words, you'd need to buy a different CPU to do it)

there was also the point that they seem to be great value

People are scalping bad right now i had to pay almost 3x the msrp price for my 3060ti. I would wait a bit before upgrading unless your looking to game at 1440p and money is not an issue but if thats the case get a 5900 ryzen 9 .
