Well, I hear that SLI is bad on Source game engines. Meaning CS:S will not benefit, as won't Half Life 2. You can sell your 7600GT, and get a 7900GT or X1800XT which would be a much better option.

My x1800xt will beat two of those in sli any day especially in oblivion, get a better single card. SLI is a waste of money unless you want to run res's over 1600x1200. I can max quake4, oblivion, unreal, fear, with full hdr, aa, asf, and they are all over 25fps minimum, 1280x1024 is over 40 minimum in all of them.

dont get any SLI setup now, you wouldnt benefit much. wait for few months, when nvidia and ati launch their directX10 GPU, u may sell your 7600GT and get a directX10 GPU.

Do whatever makes you happy. A couple of 7600 series in SLI would be cool. It's funny when people tell you to just sell your card....like it's that easy

If I was running a 7600GT, I would deffinately pick up another one for SLI if my motherboard supported it.

Amen...for $130ish it would do quite well, and prolly last a long time. Most people think -bleeding edge- games when it comes to cards. I ask this... how many owners of single 6 series cards are out there that have no probs running the games they want to run, and they look pretty good doing it? Sure you aren't going to play Oblivion, or FEAR at 1920x1280 at MAX settings, but is this really what one was looking to do if they origionally purchased a 7600?

2 cents, feel free to give change

Damn straight! I just recently bought a 7600 GT (replacing a 6800 Ultra), and waiting till the end of this year when the DX10 start rolling in :p

Also keep in mind that SLI doesn't double performance, and it runs best at 1600x1200 resolution (nothing lower), so if you play at that resolution, SLI provides biggest benefits. Also, adding a second 7600GT might increase framerates by 20, or by 0. Not worth it.

You got some good advice from everyone I think. But the last post is worth considering: Even though it's easier and cheaper to buy a second 7600GT you are not guaranteed consistent performance increases. SLI will benefit only certain games and at certain resolutions. Look for reviews using 7600GT's in SLI and benching them with the kind of games you play. Then you will have a more informed opinion. Otherwise start saving for sth better like 7900GT or X1800XT (the better of the two for Oblivion)

I realise that but the OP mentioned no SLI support for AOEIII and prozac26 mentioned bad SLI scaling for the source engine. That's 2 out of 3 games the OP is interested in.

Wow, that was really insightful. I always thought all you had to do was post it on ebay and ship it.

So tell us Randall, what more is there to do that's so difficult?

Or do you personally find the concept of selling something so complex that it's not worth having better hardware?

THG doesnt list the 7600GT in their interactive vga charts. So that would not benefit the OP. Besides the single 7600GT runs great, I can run BF2 at 1280x1024 high settings and 2xaf and no problems. Just stick with the 7600GT for a while longer, it will run anything out just fine.
