Hello everyone!
I'm building a PC soon so I just wanted your guys' opinion on the GPU, should I get the 1070 ti or wait for the new GPUs (1170, 1180)? I'm not considering the GTX 1080, I think for me it's not worth the ~$90 more.
I don't know how much the approximate price will be for new GPUs when they released (*cough* I'm a console peasant *cough*)
I don't know if this matters, but my budget is around $550, maybe I can push it to $600 max for the GPU
Monitor probably going to get a 144hz 1080p.
And I should mention that I'm not really in a hurry, I can wait.

Sorry for the long thread, Thanks in advance.

I was in a similar position too you. Stuck between the 1070ti and the 1080 upgrading from a 1060. If i was you i would consider the 1080. I read that the prices of the next generation cards will more than likely be at more of a premium than the current cards. This could mean that the current cards dont go down in price for some time. I decided to buy a 1080 due to the GDDR5X where as the 1070ti only uses GDDR5. If youre on a budget then the 1070ti is a good choice due to it not being too far behind the 1080. However, it doesnt sound like youre on much of a budget. It is said that a 1070 ti can be overclocked to the same performance as a 1080 but the 1080 can also be overclocked. The price point for the 1080 is currently at a reasonable...
There is no confirmed date for release and we don’t know what cards will be released first. Also no idea what will happen to prices or what availability will be like at release. Any answers are just guesses.

If you can wait do so but if you can’t then just buy what you need. It is not like current gpu’s will be obsolete when the new ones release.

Well for the money the GTX 1080 is the best performance in your price range now... If you get one of the high end cards like the EVGA GTX 1080 FTW2.

The GTX 1070Ti will never match it, even overclocked to the moon.

However nobody really knows when the new gen cards will come out and what they will actually be yet.

The price point for the 1080 is currently at a reasonable price for the performance. Like someone said above. If you can wait then do so. However, i didnt see much point in waiting because with the power of the current 1080/1080ti i cant see the new generation cards being worth the premium.
