I know I said earlier that I was planning to get 870 evo 4 tb but they for some reason don't have that capacity in my area so I had to settle for 2tb of the same.

Since my parents are visiting my brother, I thought of getting this one as it looks like a lot of value for what it offers. But is it fine to get it from Newegg? More importantly is it worth getting this drive instead of better opting for Samsung 870 evo of 4tb?

They're practically the same, the samsung is slightly faster than the Crucial by about 20MB/s write speed (Crucial is 560MB/s read / 510 write) and 8k more random reads (Crucial is 90k IOPS read & write). But to any normal consumer who's just using it for games or basic file usage & archiving, let alone know what any of this might even mean, it shouldn't amount to much of a difference overall. The technology used between drives is also pretty similar, they're both TLC based, meaning the individual cells that data is written on will wear out and die at around the same rate. I'd say go for the Crucial one since it's available and cheaper.
I have 2 of the MX500 2TB version and they've been working without issue for nearly 3 years now. They still have about 90% life left and I write large games (60+GB) to them all the time.

That price is easily the best price I have ever seen for that specific SSD at that capacity. I have been tracking the price for 2 or 3 years...since it was introduced.

It was over 500 a couple of years ago and has recently been 350 and up.

At Newegg direct, not from that vendor 3C Expert.

That vendor may be wonderful, horrible, or anywhere in between. No idea.

If budget says OK, jump on it. Maybe cheaper tomorrow. Who knows.

I have a 7 year old Crucial MX100 operating without any issues.

That says out of stock.

Drat..oh well maybe next time...

I guess in a way it's good cause I don't have to develop trust on Newegg. I know they are trying to build back their reputation but still...

Also...what is with this mx500 that it's still selling and getting out of stock compared to the 870 evo?!?

What is the specific problem with Newegg?

I vaguely recall an issue a few years ago, but can't recall the details. Please refresh my memory. Was it over return policy?

MX500 has been available for about 5 years I think. Not sure that today's version is identical with past versions.

Have seen some recent complaining about 870 Evo in certain capacities....going from memory. Haven't followed that closely.

I've never had a problem with newegg have made a ton of purchases from them.

Always make sure it's sold and shipped from them not a 3rd party.

they were reselling open box Motherboards that had been returned for RMA, and just putting them back on the shelves to sell again without returning them to manufacturer.

The PSU thing is on Gigabyte

I see more Crucial ssd fail than Samsung but it might be okay if its just storage.
