Should I get the i7 7700k?

Hey guys!
I have a Intel i7 950 and an AMD Radeon R9 290 at the moment, and my question is, is it smart to upgrade my CPU to i7 7700k? I want to play PUBG and Overwatch smoother and does an upgrade for my CPU help very much for that?

It depends.
Ryzen is better for multi-threaded task, such as streaming, video editing and most other workstation activites. It will also be better at multitasking. As for purely geming, Ryzen will perform between 10 and 15% worse, however as time goes on more and more games are utilizing several cores, and so Ryzen may be more futureproof.

well ya...that old i7 950 crap is non upgradable.....non of your stuff is upgradable.....you need at least 800$ for a system for 30fps gameplay.

Those games that you have mentioned are very CPU intensive and single threaded, especially Overwatch. i7 7700K will significantly boost your framerates in this case due to its high IPC and clock speed.

Whether its worth the money to get more FPS, I dont know. I would rather get a 120 Hz Monitor of the money.

What good is a 120 Hz monitor, exactly, if your current system is only capable of 30 fps framerates, some might ask?
