So i just built my pc(gtx 960 4gb,i5 4460, z97x gaming 3) im very happy with it everything works perfectly fine, however i just noticed how much better skylake is. So should i upgrade to skylake in the future or go with i5 4690k and oc it? I would really prefer to just upgrade cpu instead of mobo and ram but will a i5 4460 do fine in this year and maybe the next year too, becuase is some months i will upgeade my monitor and then my gpu to a gtx970 so it will take some time till i upgeade my cpu. What should i do? i can even go for i7 4790k if it will worth the money but still prefer i5 4690k well any help plz?

The improvements on Skylake over Haswell/Devil's Canyon aren't that great. Going to an unlocked i5 or i7 is a great upgrade path for you without the expense of a new MB and RAM as well as the CPU.

If building new, I'd always recommend Skylake at this time, but for upgrades, I don't think the cost justifies it over going with the best CPU for the current board ... at least from Haswell.

Im not upgrading yet on a year maybe. I also found that cpu I5-5675C is it good?

Thanks i will just upgrade my i5 4460 to an i5 4690k or an i7 4790k in the future maybe 2 or 1 year. :)

" i just noticed how much better skylake is"
Based on what? It shouldn't be much better...

"go with i5 4690k and oc it"
yeah, do that

If you were deciding between skylake and the 4000 series (can remember the name) and you didn't already have the motherboard and ram I'd go with skylake for upgrade-ability. But you can easily get a 4690K to outperform the skylake 6400 and 6500.

I actually recommend that you DO NOT upgrade.

That's a nice build you have right now. Keep it and enjoy it. If there's anything you want to upgrade, upgrade your GPU to a 970 or 980, but only if you're having issues running the games you're currently playing.

Remember, if you decide to upgrade to Skylake, you will also need to upgrade your motherboard and RAM. That's going to cost you a decent amount of cash to upgrade to Skylake.

Save your money and only upgrade when you're computer isn't able to run the games you enjoy playing.

Best of luck!

gtx 960 4gb,i5 4460, z97x gaming 3 is a great setup for 1080p gaming. I would not change anything this year.

If you start to think about 1440p gaming you should consider SLI. You already have a good 4GB VRAM gpu and a mobo w/ SLI SUPPORT after all.

And you really dont need to change platform if you ever need more cpu performance (not right now): A OCed i7-4790k is an awesome tier 1 cpu. you cant get any better.

If you want to upgrade anything I would go for a 2nd GTX 960 4gb for SLI (make sure your PSU is good enough) or if your only running 8gb of RAM increasing it to 16gb. The i5-5675C isn't worth the upgrade, at this point the only good upgrade without having to change your MB or RAM would be a i7-4790K (for overclocking) or the Xeon 1231 (non overclocking), both have hyper-threading but is not noticeable on most games currently, maybe later on when DX12 is released.
