I'll be asking a few questions throughout here and would like to know a few things for a new build.

My question right now is;
Should I go with Intel OR AMD for a processor?

I'll be on a $500-$750 budget (Don't know exactly yet, havent sold my current build yet).
I'll be using it for Gaming, Would Love to get Ultra settings in a few games, but High is fine with me.

My current Build has a EVGA Nvidia GTX 750 Ti Super Clock, Intel i3-2100, 12gb RAM, 1tb 7200RPM HDD. It plays BO2 perfectly with everything maxed, Titanfall better than Xbox One & at 1080p, WoW perfectly w/ everything maxed, Hawken perfect w/ everything maxed.

I'm looking for a great processor for a low cost for a gaming build. Prefer Quad-Core and up.

I'll be using 8GB, maybe 16GB RAM in the build depending on what MOBO I get after i decide on a processor. I had a build before with an A8 APU that was good. Thanks.

Solution
Keep in mind that new motherboard often means new Windows as well. I would bios update and get a compatible ivy i5 or i7, a new PSU, and a new GPU.

Just noticed your budget would be after selling PC. What is your budget...
If you have 500-750$ just for the CPU and motherboard then I would recommend an nice Core i7 quad core and a nice X79 motherboard.

If you have 500-750$ for the entire build...well then perhaps a Core i5 CPU

I really don't like AMD personally. I find them to run hot and less performance per Ghz and per # of cores. But if your absolutely on a tight budget you may find one that suits your needs.

some people may tell u that fx cores bottleneck high performance gpu's and cant game well in anything cpu intensive. even tho there is similar amd technology in xbox and playstation. if u had a motherboard made by amd with radeon drr3. in a certain respect u would plug and play into optimal performance with your cpu commanding at a perfect clock rate with your gpu. this also has to do with how most ram is labeled with xmp profiles and a misunderstanding of labeling on cas frequency and values happens to consumers for both amd and intel builds but was implemented in this way because people would oc ram at unsafe voltages and values

Yes, $500-$750 for the entire Build. I'd mostly get my stuff from amazon, maybe newegg if i could actually save money there.

GIGABYTE H67MA-USB3-B3
Intel i3-2100 Dual Core @ 3.10GHz,
12GB RAM (2x 4GB & 2x 2GB)
EVGA Nvidia GTX 750 Ti Superclocked
350-Watt power Supply (Not at home to check the model right now)

I'll be selling this on Criagslist and get the money to build a new desktop from that.

well personally if i where to build another amd i would use 8350 on a asus 990 chipset with a r9 card that can be crossfired or hd7970.

choosing a good mobo is important or your upgrade ability will be slim to nothing.

there is also to be considered your need for a powerful power supply will be much more with amd as the system becomes fully upgraded over time. such as starting out with 1 hard drive and gettings another for the page file or just a separate solid state to install games on.
