Should I go with R7 1700/1700X over the i7 7700k ?

I am planing to build a pc and i'll be using it for Medium Gaming and mostly for 3d Rendering,Animations and Video Editing.Now which one should I prefer are the AMD's new CPU really better than the Intel's ??

For pure gaming --> i7-7700K (or i5-7600K)
For gaming AND 3D rendering, animations, video editing, etc. --> R7 1700/1700X

Is AMD really back in business,can't believe it's really very hard to choose it over brand which has been ruling all these day !!

For what you are using your computer for, RyZen all day long, stomps all over Intel as a workstation chip, rendering etc, yes AMD are back, and for gaming, you wouldnt notic any difference in the real world, game optimisations are already happening, and very quickly.

Unless you have money to burn I would go with the 1700 and OC if necessary. From what I've seen the X's value just isn't there. 1700 locked? The X's value would increase. The way it is? 1700.

Yes, it is. And, thankfully so to us consumers. The AMD FX series can now be put on the shelves. Ryzen is the real deal esp on the type of usage (workstation) for your PC.

But Intel still rocks the purely gaming PC builds.

You will definitely benefit from the R1700 for rendering and video editing, especially since most 3d programs like Cinema 4D, Blender etc are very CPU demanding the extra cores will be a joy to have. I just pulled the trigger on a R1700 and Asus Crossahir VI Hero, few more days it'll be here. Also in regards to video editing take into account a decent graphics card like an RX480 (or soon to be released RX580) or Nvidia 1060 6gb or even a 1070. Really depends on if you want to edit 4k or 1080P. Programs like premiere utilize cuda cores or opencl that will help with rendering, encoding and exporting. For gaming you should be fine if you are playing 1080p but again that's really based on your graphics card as well.

I can't wait to get my R1700 up and running!
