Build Advice Should I go with Ryzen 7600X + RX 6900 or i5-13600KF + 4070 ?

Hi! I'm planning to buy a new PC

I can't decide between 7600X + RX6900 or i5-13600KF + 4070 (or a combination of both). The price difference is just $100. I want to play "esports" games with my 1080p 144hz monitor and casually play AAA games with high settings

Or is there a better CPU/GPU combo I should look for?
  • Budget range: Around the budget of the combos detailed. I'm not a US citizen so can't access all the CPUs and GPUs available in US market.
  • System usage from most to least important: Gaming mainly e-sport games (counter strike) and casual AAA games
  • Monitor resolution: 1080p 144hz
  • Overclocking: No
  • Why am I upgrading? With current setup (2700x + Vega 56), I'm not reaching 144 FPS constantly on the games I'm interested in.

Intel build is better.

Build comparison, AMD as baseline, Intel as alternative;

Userbenchmark PC Build Comparison

Baseline Bench: Game 209%, Desk 113%, Work 201%
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X
GPU: AMD RX 6900-XT
SSD: Samsung 990 Pro NVMe PCIe M.2 2TB
RAM: G.SKILL Trident Z DDR4 3200 C16 2x8GB

Alternative Bench: Game 225%, Desk 119%, Work 244%
CPU: Intel Core i5-13600KF
GPU: Nvidia RTX 4070
SSD: Samsung 990 Pro NVMe PCIe M.2 2TB
RAM: G.SKILL Trident Z DDR4 3200 C16 2x8GB
I would be very careful using userbenchmark to compare AMD with Intel or Nvidia, as it's so biased against them. You only need to read the description on AMD products and you would think AMD murdered their family.

Yes, i know that. Still, Intel chip is still better than AMD chip;

NanoReview comparison: https://nanoreview.net/en/cpu-compare/intel-core-i5-13600kf-vs-amd-ryzen-5-7600x

Same goes to GPU, RTX 4070 is better than RX 6900XT,

So, what i said earlier stands: Intel build is better.

The 4070 is better than the 6900XT, I have no issues with that, but it costs quite a lot more too. However, you only provided workstation type tasks to show the 13600kf as the better CPU, when they are both very closely matched in gaming, with benchmarks showing the 7600x winning more of the e-sport titles...which is what the op is building for.

For gaming, on average, Intel is still better, by getting ~183FPS vs ~172FPS to AMD chip;

Based on the search results, the i5 13600KF + RTX 4070 combo seems to be a good choice for playing esports games with a 1080p 144hz monitor and casually playing AAA games with high settings
https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/13usa57/rtx_4070i5_13600kf_overkill_for_1080p/
However, if you are still looking for other options, you may consider the following

i5 12600KF + RTX 4060 Ti:
This combo has been tested in 16 games and can handle most games at 1080p and 1440p with high settings

i7 12700KF + RTX 3070:
This combo is a bit more expensive than the previous ones, but it can handle most games at 1440p and even some at 4K with high settings
https://forums.tomshardware.com/thr...x6900-or-i5-13600kf-4070-cant-decide.3820716/
Thanks for the reply. Where can I find the benchmarks or the review of the 12600KF + 4060 TI combo?

Could be interesting bc I just want to play at 1080p with ultra/high settings and the 13600KF + 4070 may be an overkill?
